Must read

Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, has set up a committee to review Nigeria’s Values Charter.

Idris’s Deputy Director of Press, Mr Suleiman Haruna, made this disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

The Values Charter of Nigeria is a social compact between the country and its citizens.

“It will serve as a blueprint and policy for a national value system, defining us as Nigerians and undergirding our personality as citizens.

“The committee, which has two weeks to submit its report includes Dr Muhammed Auwal-Haruna as Chairman, Dr Biodun Adeniyi as Deputy Chairman.”

According to him, the new policy, which would be unveiled by President Bola Tinubu in early 2024, is made up of the Nigerian Promise and the Citizen Codes, each of which has seven pillars.

The minister added that the government plans to include the ideals in formal, informal, and vocational education systems.
