A carpenter, Orunor in Sapele, Delta State, has allegedly beaten his apprentice known as Onome to death.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred a few days ago at the supervisor’s workshop on Sapele’s New Ogorode Road.

It was gathered that the apprentice’s, master Orunor, had reprimanded him for allegedly arriving late to work.

Orunor also purportedly accused the deceased of taking his ATM card.

As a result, it was apparently decided that the boy needed to receive firm discipline, which included beatings.

But the apprentice reportedly had a new turn to the alleged beating when he got home and complained to his parents about pains throughout his body.

According to reports, Onome also told his parents everything that happened between him and his supervisor at work.

The apprentice’s parents allegedly made the decision to send him to the hospital for care but he passed away before medical attention could be given.

It was gathered that Orunor, the apprentice’s master, fled into hiding after learning of the boy’s passing.

Operatives from Sapele Area Command, Nigeria Police, are reportedly pursuing the evading master in an attempt to apprehend him.

As of the time this story was filed, DSP Bright Edafe, the state police public relations officer, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
