The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, in Abuja returned a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN, Godwin Emefiele to court.
This follows an order of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in the matter.
Emefiele who has been in the custody of the Federal Government security agencies for over 150 days was brought to Court in compliance with the order of Justice Olukayode Adeniyi.
The former CBN Governor was brought into the courtroom around 12:30 with a team of EFCC operatives providing security around him.
His friends and relatives had besieged the court premises waiting for the arrival of the Judge for a hearing in his fundamental human rights suit.
Justice Adeniyi had on Monday reaffirmed his order that the detained former CBN governor be brought to Court today November 8 for the purpose of admitting him to bail.
He gave the anti-graft agency two options of either granting bail to Emefiele or allowing the court to do so in line with provisions of the law.
