Primeboy has refuted the claim by the police that the artiste refused to honour invitation for interrogation in the ongoing investigation to unravel the cause of the death of his late friend, MohBad.
Primeboy told Television Continental (TVC) News on Thursday, October 5, in an interview before he surrendered to the police authorities that he didn’t receive any invitation as claimed.
AFRIPOST reports that the Lagos State Police Command had declared the late Mohbad’s friend wanted on a bounty of N1m for whoever that would disclose Primeboy’s whereabout.
During the interview conducted in a car’s back seat, the embattled friend of the late Mohbad refuted the police claim that he had refused to respond to their summons, describing it as false.
He stated that after waiting for several days, expecting to hear from the police, he discovered that was declared wanted by the police on Wednesday, even though they hadn’t contacted him at all, saying that the situation prompted him to surrender to the police.
The TV correspondent stated: “The police said they’ve called you severally but you refused to come?”
Primeboy replied: “That’s a big lie. How will I receive a message from the police and I’ll refuse them? Before all this issue, I even wanted to turn myself, like not turning in. I wanted to go and explain myself at the station because people started accusing me wrongly. People that I called said I should chill and not go anywhere so the police would not…like I should wait for them to invite me.
“So I kept waiting and suddenly I found myself ‘wanted’ online yesterday. People started calling me that I’m wanted and N1 million for whoever found me. I was shocked, surprised. I called my lawyer, and family and they just said that I should calm down and that nothing will happen. So far I know nothing about it. So, I’m here now.”
So what’s your relationship with Mohbad?
“Mohbad is my childhood friend. All those times that ‘stepmother no care’ (a line of the deceased song), I was his stepmother then. I was his dad, his friend; I was everything to him because he lived with me then. My mom fed the two of us together.”
Were you with him the day he died?
“No, I was not with him. We departed after that show because he chased me down from the car that was on Sunday. He called me on Friday to come over to the Island. I didn’t even know he had a show. So, on getting to the Island, while we gisted and had fun, the next thing he said, ‘Sorry I did not tell you that I have a show at Ikorodu, The General’. I said, ‘Ah, you did not tell me now’.
“And the next day was my brother’s birthday. So, he now said after the show then, I can invite my junior brother over and he’ll celebrate his birthday with him. And I said okay.”
Why did he chase you out?
“He chased me out at town hall from his car. Because he and his wife were having a hidden conversation about this or that but I don’t know. It’s his family affair so I don’t…but one thing I didn’t want is for him to get down from the car. But on that matter, the issue that he and his wife had, we were like…because Mohbad is f^cking hot, I know him.
“So he was like he wants to get down from the car and I said, ‘Why will you come down from the car? Why are you like this?’ Then I’ll be the one to go and clear the road, this, that. Zlatan was still on stage, Mohbad, Calm down.”
How do you feel that they’re saying you know something about it?
“They don’t even know how I feel losing him and now they’re accusing me. So, the feeling is crazy. I just know God sees it all.”
So, what do you want now?
“I want justice for Mohbad and I want that his wife…why will she go online and start framing me up? That’s wrong.”
On Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Command declared Primeboy wanted in the ongoing probe of Afrobeats star Mohbad’s death, offering a N1 million reward for aiding his arrest.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, in an X post, disclosed that Primeboy was declared wanted after failing to honour the police invitation sent to him since the investigation commenced.
