Suspected gunmen abduct Benue Commissioner

Some unknown gunmen have abducted the Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Abo.

The incident which happened on Sunday night had about 10 armed men invading the Commissioner’s residence in Zaki-Biam, headquarters of Ukum Local Government Area of the state.

According to an eyewitness, the abductors stormed the area on four motorcycles, and forced themselves into the commissioner’s house. They shot sporadically to scare people away.

They eventually succeeded in whisking the commissioner away after ordering everyone in the house, including the Commissioner‘s wife and children to lie face down.

The matter has been reported to the police.

Abo was sworn in as a member of the Benue State Executive Council on August 29th, 2023.

He is from Ukum local government area.

The local government has recently become a beehive of criminal activities with rampant killings and kidnappings.
