The Senior Pastor of Nigeria Reformed Church Abakaliki and Vice Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ebonyi State Chapter, Rev. Dr. Joseph Nwibo has on Sunday called on the political leaders in Nigeria to be conscious of equity and justice in their leadership position.
He also noted that the leaders should set apart religious and ethnics sentiments knowing that God’s judgement is supreme and not a respecter of persons both rich and the poor.
The Clergy stated this while interacting with newsmen immediately after his Sunday service in his church office at the state Headquarters in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Nwibo in his sermon frowned at the situation whereby killings of human beings can now be compared to that of domestic animals.
He further expressed disappointment in the ugly act by those in power who feel that they are in higher positions therefore can do any thing they wish in believing that nothing will happen but forgetting that the hearts of a king is in God’s hands.
Rev. Nwibo said, “What is happening in the societal today is like what happened to the people of Israelite in the Bible when they rebel against God and the consequences on the people of Israel.
“But if the society can humble itself and go to God in prayers with genuine repentance of heart, I believe things will still become well,” he said.
Rev. Nwibo also called on Christians especially members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to continue in praying for our politicians and leaders mostly for those in authority, in accordance with the Bible directives, believing that God being a merciful father, will have mercy upon our country Nigeria.
He congratulated Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on his 100 days in office and prayed God to give him victory in the Tribunal Court to enable him continue with his good work he has started for people in the State.
Ebonyi State will clock 27 years in a few days to come.
