The presidential election petition tribunal has struck out a petition brought before it by the Allied People’s Movement against the nomination of Kashim Shettima as the running mate to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the ruling by the lead justice, Haruna Tsammani, no other political party has the locus standi to interfer in another party affairs particularly a pre-election matter such as the issue of nomination of a vice presidential candidate.
Tsammani said being a pre-election matter, the matter should have been brought up within 14 days. He consequently ruled that the petition lacked merits.
The court is currently ruling on the preliminary objections.
