The federal government has declared that the Nigerian government is yet to find a replacement to what late Pa. Taiwo Akinkunmi did for the country.

Akinkunmi was the one that designed the Nigeria’s flag.

He designed the flag while studying abroad prior to independence in 1960.

Akinkunmi, a native of Ogun state, died few days ago in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The federal government has however declared that the Nigerian government is yet to find a replacement to what the deceased did for the country.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris made this disclosure on Monday in Ibadan.

He spoke when he led a delegation of the Federal Government to visit the family of the deceased.

Idris while speaking on behalf of the federal government, noted that the federal government appreciated the efforts of the deceased.

He said, “We are here to console with the family on behalf of Mr President. Pa Akinkunmi’s roles cannot be forgotten.

“It is a symbol that we are yet to find a replacement for. He designed it when he was in his 20s and he lived for more than 60 years after he designed it. Mr. President received the news of his death. We want to identify with the family and the people of Oyo state.

“We came to tell them that the federal government identify with them and the people of Oyo state and to say that Nigerian government will stand by them.

Remi Akinkunmi, who spoke on behalf of the family, thanked the delegation for their presence.

She said that the family express their gratitude towards the visitation.
