Four traditional rulers receive certificate of recognition in Ebonyi communities

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of  Local  Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Igwe Stephen Uchenna, has under the governorship of His Excellency Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru gave four traditional rulers certificate of recognition while four others are waiting for further clarification.

The Commissioner while addressing  newsmen in his office at the new Government House in Ochudo centenary Abakaliki, the State Capital says, “in my resumption to office I discovered that out of 140 Autonomous Communities in Ebonyi State only half has traditional rulers.

He said the importance of traditional rulers in the maintainance of peace and conflict resolution in the community cannot be over emphases.

Uchenna noted that those communities without traditional rulers will find the leadership of the people very difficult, therefore, there is need to  recognize Ezes Elect  by those communities, that have met the conditions as stipulated by law governing the recognition of of Traditional Rulers in Ebonyi State.”

He listed the names of those Eze ogo and their communities who has completed their requirements for recognitions as follows: Agustin Mbam Nwamini of Nduebor Ezzainyimagu autonomous community; Chinedu Mashael Nwankwo of  Ogboji
zzagu autonomous community; Boniface Nwoba Nwngbu, Izzi Unuphu
autonomous community and Awa Orji Uka of Ngusu Edda autonomous community.

He further Commended the State Governor Nwifuru for giving the people in their communities the sense of belonging  to choose their choice as traditional rulers.

The Commissioner equally urged the Traditional Rulers  to be good ambassadors of Government in their community and also charged them to focus in discharging their duties without bias in order to win the confidence of their subjects.

The  Governor  congratulated them on their election by their subjects and urged them to be good ambassadors of Government within their areas of coverage.

“It is my honour to welcome you to this event, one of the most important functions I have performed in my administration

“I am very much happy working with all of you because you have taken the responsibility of maintaining peace in your communities even before the formal recognition.

“Please do not take your subjects for granted. Be more focused and dedicated and at the end of the day, you will not be disappointed Do not take bribe from your subjects because you will not have the boldness to say the truth,” the governor added.

He also commended the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Uchenna Igwe for facilitating the issuance of Staff of Office to the Traditional Rulers.

Eze Augustine Mbam, on behalf of others, appreciated the Governor on the honour given them and pledged to hold on to their charge in his administration.
