We have been sidelined from nomination as board members – APC members tell Tinubu

Some members and leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state have declared that they have been sidelined during the nomination of people who will serve as board members of agencies and parasiatas under the President Bola Tinubu administration from the state.

The APC members made this declaration while addressing journalists at a press conference in Ibadan, the state capital on Tuesday.

A letter was sent to the State Chairman of APC from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) which requested the party to send names of nine people who will serve as chairmen (2) and members (7) of the boards of parastatals, agencies, institutions and government-owned companies.

The nominations according to the letter dated 27th June 2023 are to be submitted on or before 5th July, 2023.

The letter indicated that the gubernatorial candidate of the party during the 2023 general elections, Senator Teslim Folarin and other stakeholders of the party are to be involved and carried along in the nomination and selection of the names.

Some APC leaders have however said that they were not carried along during the process.

Former member of Ibadan South West Local government executive, Hon. Amoo Taofeek Ayoola who addressed journalists on behalf of other APC leaders, said that majority of the APC members were not carried along in the process of nomination and selection of the names.

Ayoola who is a member of Presidential Campaign Council PCC and Convener of Our Hope 23 for Good Governance, said that he and other members of APC decided to address the press conference to bring this matter to the door step of the presidency.

He added that the party is in a deplorable state and in need of remedy.

He maintained that the party need people of integrity and exemplary leadership that will be given positions that will redeem the fortunes of the party in the state.

He added that he and other members of the party are not in support of the list submitted, because they were not carried along during the selection of the names.

Ayoola said, “The letter which was sent to the State Chairman of the APC in Oyo State, specifically requested for Sen. Teslim Folarin and other stakeholders of APC in Oyo State to be involved and carried along in the nomination of the names.

“We have consulted some prominent leaders and elders of the party in the state who were totally sidelined and were not consulted or aware of the nomination and selection put forward by the state chairman and Sen. Teslim Folarin to the SGF office or presidency on behalf of Oyo State APC’ s stakeholders in the state.

“Due to this, we cannot be part of the campaign with movement for the success and defenders of the election success in the party, and left out in the submission of names from Oyo to the Federal Government. We are not in support of this list submitted because we have not been carried along in the exercise”.
