The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ebonyi State Chapter has, among the fifteen Bishops that stood for the Election, elected Rev. Dr. Scan Chinedu Nwokolo as State chairman.
Addressing newsmen immediately after his victory in the election that took place in Abakaliki, the State Capital on Wednesday, Rev. Nwokolo said he never knew that such position would come to him.
Though he, however, said his block members has been encouraging him to step out to contest for the chairmanship position because other positions he has held before, he represented them very well.
Nwokolo said, “this encouragement gave me the hope to stand out for the election which at the end, among the fifteen Bishops that came out to contest for the chairmanship position I was announced the winner.
“By this great honour given to me by members of this noble association, I promise to put more efforts ensure that I unite all Churches in the State together inside one umbrella irrespective of their denominations.”
He disclosed that Ebonyi State, from the creation, has been the most peacefully State compared to other states in the Country. That will be done through fervent prayers, he added.
The Clergy also said that he is going to start organising a constant prayer submit for the state to pray for leaders especially for the state Governor, His Excellency Rt.Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and those stakeholders who are going to work with him in various positions and other Leaders in any group – the Traditional Rulers, the town union leaders and association leaders for peace and unity in the state.
