The Delta State Police Command has successfully neutralized a fleeing kidnapper in Warri, Delta State. Acting on credible intelligence, CSP T.Y. Mahmud, the DPO of ‘A’ Division Warri, led a team of operatives to raid the hideout of a notorious criminal gang situated along stadium road in Warri.
During the operation, the police apprehended a 58-year-old suspect who provided valuable information about the whereabouts of other gang members. Acting on this intelligence, the police proceeded to their hideout along Chevron Road.
As the team approached the hideout, they encountered a fierce attack from the gang members. However, the fleeing suspect, in an attempt to evade capture, sustained a severe leg injury, preventing his escape.
According to DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the 58-year-old suspect confessed to being a member and an armorer of the notorious “bobone” armed robbery gang, which has been causing terror in Warri and its environs. The suspect’s gang members managed to escape with gunshot wounds, while the injured suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment but unfortunately died.
The police successfully recovered an AK-47 rifle and three magazines during the operation. The search for the remaining gang members is currently underway as part of an ongoing manhunt.
The Delta State Police Command’s swift action and successful operation in eliminating a fleeing kidnapper and recovering a dangerous weapon highlight their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
