The detained suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, is set to learn his fate regarding his detention under the custody of the Directorate of State Services (DSS) on July 13.
President Bola Tinubu had suspended Emefiele from his position as the apex banker a couple of weeks ago, leading to his subsequent arrest by the DSS.
Since his arrest, Emefiele has been held incommunicado by the secret service, with limited access to the outside world.
In a bid to regain his rights, Emefiele, through his lawyer Chief Joseph Daudu, SAN, approached the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to secure an order granting him access to his family members and legal counsel. The court granted this request last week.
Following arguments from both sides in the case on Tuesday, the Court has scheduled July 13 as the date for the ruling on Emefiele’s situation.
