An Abia stalwart of the Labour Party (LP) and the member of the House of Representatives, Chief Obi Aguocha, has revealed first agenda he would pursue and actualize in tenth National Assembly.
Speaking during a well-attended ceremony organized by him, which took place at his Nkwoegwu Ohuhu country home in Umuahia north local government area of Abia state at the weekend, Aguocha promised to fight and ensure the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu reportedly jumped bail after his conditional release from prison custody on the order of a court of competent jurisdiction in Abuja on preferred treasonable felony charges instituted against by the Nigerian government.
In 2021, the IPOB leader was reportedly rearrested in Kenya by a combined team of security operatives from the country and kenya, and was later repatriated to Nigeria in continuation of his trial in court.
Kanu is currently detained in cell facility of the Department of State Service (DSS) on the order of an FCT high court in Abuja, following his rearrest in Kenya by a combined team of Nigerian security operatives, and was repatriated to Nigeria
The successionist agitator hails from Afaraukwu Ibeku community in umuahia north local government area of Abia, which formed the present ikwuano/umuahia federal constituency in Abia central senatorial district of the state.
Earlier, the Abia federal lawmaker, Obi Aguocha, while speaking during the auspicious occasion, promised to effective and purposeful representation to people of ikwuano/umuahia areas now that general elections had come and gone, saying that it’s time to deliver good governance to the doorsteps of the people in the federal constituency.
He also vowed never to disappoint his constituents and the entire igbo race as he would initiate impactful bills and make laws that will engender improvement and building of critical public infrastructure.
Words: “I would want to use this great opportunity once again to reiterate on my electoral promises during the campaigns for the recently-concluded main election, that good people of ikwuano, Umuahia north and umuahia south local government areas should expect effective representation from me.
“I will not disappoint my constituents and ndigbo at large. I’m poised to raise the bar of legislative representation of ikwuano/umuahia constituency in the national assembly. will speak on what will be beneficial to them, and do the work which you have sent me, and not to put you to shame.
While also attributing his success at the concluded february 25th, 2023 house of representatives elections in across all local electoral wards in the federal constituency by the national electoral commission, to God’s mercy and intervention, Mr Aguocha however expressed his immense gratitude to the electorates cum people in the federal constituency who made this feat possible and successful.
“This success is not only for me it is for the entire Ohuhu clan, our battle all these years is to redeem our name to get our God given right and he helped us,”he maintained.
The thanksgiving church service held during the weekend by the newly-inaugurated member of the 10th national assembly was attended by the State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, the Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Emmanuel Emeruwa, and his deputy, Hon Austin Okezie Meregini, the member representing Isiuakwato/Umunneochi federal constituency in the house of representatives, Chief Amobi Ogah, and Hon Ginger Onwusibe, the lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa north/Isiala Ngwa south federal constituency in lower chamber of the national assembly.
Others were a former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Onyema Ugochukwu and elder statesman, Chief Empire Kanu, and rest of other notable personalities within and outside the state.
