Super Eagle midfielder, Alex Iwobi, recently disclosed his efforts to persuade Crystal Palace midfielder, Eberechi Eze, to represent Nigeria. Despite Iwobi’s attempts, Eze ultimately chose to play for England on the international stage, leaving Nigeria behind.
Eze’s exceptional performances for Crystal Palace garnered significant praise from football fans and caught the attention of England manager, Gareth Southgate, who subsequently called him up to the national team. However, Iwobi revealed during an interview with Brila FM radio that he had personally reached out to Eze in an attempt to convince him to play for Nigeria.
Regrettably, Eze never had the opportunity to join the Nigerian squad. Nonetheless, Iwobi expressed his well wishes for Eze’s career with England, acknowledging his decision to represent the Three Lions.
Recently, Eze joined the England camp ahead of their upcoming Nations League matches, further solidifying his commitment to the English national team.
