Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the February 25 election, has submitted an additional 188 exhibits contesting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration as the election winner. These exhibits consist of results sheets and reports utilized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election. They were peresented at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) as evidence.
Upon submission, the court accepted these exhibits as crucial evidence that will play a significant role in determining the validity of Tinubu’s presidency. Mr. Peter Afoba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, represented Obi in tendering forms EC40GPU, EC40G1, and reports prepared by INEC following the election. These exhibits were presented from various local government areas in Niger, Osun, Edo, and Sokoto States.
Obi submitted a total of 45 EC40GPU forms from 10 Local Government Areas in Niger State, 23 forms from seven local government areas in Osun, 17 forms from three local government areas in Edo State, and 52 EC40GPU forms from five Local Government Areas in Sokoto. Additionally, he tendered 15 forms EC40G from eight Local Government Areas in Osun State, 12 forms EC40G1 from 12 local government areas in Edo, 15 forms EC40G from four local government areas in Sokoto, and 9 forms EC40G1 from two local government areas in Sokoto.
To support his claims of malpractices during the election, Obi also presented five reports on the conduct of the election in Niger State and eight reports in Edo State. These reports further strengthen his case against the electoral process.
Although the admission of these exhibits faced opposition from INEC, Tinubu, Kashim Shetima, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Presiding Justice of the Court, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, ruled in favor of admitting them as exhibits. This decision highlights their significance in the ongoing proceedings.
Paragraph 6: During Tuesday’s proceedings, Obi also submitted INEC Results Viewing (IRev) reports from various states. These reports included 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa State, 20 in Ogun State, 16 in Ekiti State, 19 in Rivers State, and 25 in Akwa Ibom State. These additional exhibits contribute to the comprehensive evidence presented by Obi.
Paragraph 7: The Court has adjourned further hearings on the petition until June 14, allowing ample time for review and examination of the submitted exhibits.
