Air Peace Airlines has strongly denied the claims made by former Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, that the airline lacks capacity and competency. In a statement signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the airline, Toyin Olajide, the management expressed disappointment at the former minister’s remarks.
During an interview, Sirika accused Air Peace of lacking capacity and competency. However, Olajide clarified the facts, stating that the airline had not leased or rented two Boeing 777 aircraft, as claimed by Sirika. Instead, Air Peace outrightly purchased three Boeing 777 aircraft, and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) can confirm the ownership.
Furthermore, Olajide addressed Sirika’s statement regarding the suspension of Air Peace’s Dubai operations. The airline clarified that the suspension was not due to a lack of capacity but was a result of the visa ban imposed by the UAE government on Nigerians. Both Emirates and Air Peace ceased operations on the Nigerian/UAE route after the ban was announced. The ongoing visa issuance challenges and accompanying inconveniences led to the temporary suspension of Air Peace’s Dubai operations.
Olajide emphasized that the accusations of lacking capacity were baseless. Air Peace has made significant investments in its fleet, including firm orders for 13 brand new E2-195 aircraft and 15 Boeing 737 Max 8 & Max 10. With over 30 aircraft already in its existing fleet, the airline has proven its capability to meet operational demands.
The statement also highlighted Air Peace’s commendable efforts during the Covid-19 outbreak. The airline played a crucial role in conducting rescue operations, evacuating Nigerians from various countries worldwide, including China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, UK, and South Africa. Such actions demonstrate the airline’s commitment and capacity to serve the nation during challenging times.
Air Peace urged the public to disregard the former minister’s false claims and misinformation, which could lead to inaccurate perceptions about the airline. The company takes exception to any misrepresentation that tarnishes its brand reputation.
Air Peace Airlines refutes the allegations of incompetence and lack of capacity made by former Minister of Aviation, Sirika. The airline stands by its track record of excellence and continues to prioritize providing quality services to its customers.
