In a concerning incident, the Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of several individuals by unknown gunmen in the Aboto area of Asa local government area. The victims were reportedly abducted while returning from a naming ceremony, leaving the community in shock and distress.
Okasanmi Ajayi, the spokesman for the State Police Command, assured the public that the Command is actively engaged in efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims. Investigations into the matter have already commenced, although there have been conflicting reports regarding the exact number of individuals abducted. Some sources claim that three people were taken, while others suggest it was two.
Reliable sources, however, have confirmed that a total of four individuals, including a vigilant official who bravely attempted to rescue the victims, fell prey to the attackers. Saka Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Vigilantes in Kwara State, also verified the incident and expressed deep concern over the situation.
According to Ibrahim, the victims were abducted when their vehicle was ambushed while transporting guests after the naming ceremony. One of the abductees was a vigilante official who, despite being unarmed and not wearing a uniform, courageously intervened to aid the victims. Since the incident, the vigilant team has been tirelessly searching the surrounding bushes for any sign of the victims, but progress has been limited thus far.
Ibrahim further emphasized the troubling aspect of the situation, as the abductors have not made any contact with the victims’ families or issued any ransom demands. This lack of communication adds to the distress and uncertainty surrounding the safety and well-being of the abducted individuals.
