Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), South-South Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), under the leadership of Commander Rear Admiral Eugennio Ferriera, successfully dismantled an illicit crude oil refining site in Ibaah, located in the Emuoha Local Government Area Council of Rivers State.
With a stern warning to criminals and those jeopardizing critical national assets, Commander Ferriera made it clear that there will be no safe haven for such individuals. During his familiarization visit to the Land Component and 6 Division Nigerian Army, he emphasized a zero-tolerance approach toward any actions hindering the JTF OPDS from fulfilling its mandate.
Encouraging criminal gangs to seize the opportunity provided by the federal government’s non-kinetic approaches, the Commander urged them to pursue legitimate means of livelihood or face the consequences at the hands of the vigilant troops.
In his address to the troops, Rear Admiral Ferriera emphasized the importance of resolute commitment in executing the JTF OPDS mandate. He assured the personnel of unwavering support, including the necessary logistics and operational tools, to carry out their duties effectively and decisively.
Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of JTF OPDS, also expressed his determination to tackle criminal activities. Since assuming the position, he has initiated night patrols across the entire JTF OPDS area of responsibility, increasing the pressure on criminals.
Major General Abdussalam affirmed that additional initiatives will be implemented to further disrupt criminal activities and keep the offenders on the run.
