Police launches manhunt for suspect after allegedly murdering pregnant wife in Edo

In a shocking turn of events, a man identified as Inuaghata is being sought by authorities after allegedly killing his pregnant wife, Osaretin, in Edo State. The grieving father, Adun Samuel, has made a heartfelt plea and is willing to offer a reward of N100,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of his son-in-law.

Adun Samuel, speaking to journalists in Benin City, revealed that his daughter, who was only 23 years old, had three children with the fleeing husband. He received the devastating news of his daughter’s murder and learned that Inuaghata had been on the run and in hiding since May 24, the day of the heinous crime.

Expressing his anguish, Mr. Adun shared, “I hail from Orhionmwon local government. My daughter was killed by her husband. She was 23 years old. The incident happened at Egba on the 24th of last month. I do not understand the problem they have. I was called that my daughter has been killed. He used a knife to slit her throat. My daughter was pregnant when she was killed. I want the boy arrested. I will give anybody that gives information leading to his arrest the sum of N100,000. The boy had not formally married my daughter. His parents are both dead. I have called his brother. He ran away after killing my daughter. His name is Inuaghata.”

The Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, when contacted, stated that the matter had not yet been brought to the attention of the command. However, with the public outcry and the reward offer, it is expected that swift action will be taken to apprehend the alleged killer.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the urgent need to address domestic violence and protect vulnerable individuals in our society. Authorities and communities must work together to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
