A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, to put on hold the strike action scheduled for Wednesday.

Granting an interim injunction on the matter, the unions must not proceed on strike until the determination of the motion on notice.

Justice O. Y. Anuwe issued the order on Monday and adjourned further hearing till 19 June.

Recall that the following the removal of subsidy by the Nigerian government and the resultant effect on the masses, the Labour unions have concluded plans to embark on Wednesday, June 7.

The NLC had directed all it’s branches nationwide to begin preparation towards the commencement of the strike.

But in justification of the current price regime resulting a nationwide hardship, the Nigerian government had said the country is broke and it’s with only the removal of subsidy that it can run a successful government.
