In a scathing accusation, Senator Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has alleged that the immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, left behind a substantial debt burden for the state. Sani challenged El-Rufai to publicly disclose his assets by publishing the details of the form he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
Using his social media platforms, Sani took the opportunity to taunt his political rival on Wednesday. He claimed that El-Rufai was seeking a political appointment from President Bola Tinubu after previously working for Rotimi Amaechi, a close challenger to Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in June 2022.
Sani’s statement read, “Mr. El-Rufai, the retired Governor who has now resorted to ‘blogging on Twitter’ while awaiting a political appointment from Tinubu, previously worked for Amaechi and clandestinely spread negative stories about Tinubu.”
Sani further criticized El-Rufai for allegedly burdening the children and grandchildren of Kaduna State with a massive debt while adamantly claiming that he never embezzled from the state treasury.
He added, “One of your cronies even claimed that you are now poorer. I challenge you to make your assets public by publishing the contents of the forms you submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau, both in 2015 and 2023.”
