Must read

In a distressing turn of events, two women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were kidnapped along the Manini flashpoint in the Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred as they were returning home after attending the inauguration ceremony of Senator Uba Sani, the new Governor of Kaduna. The Chairman of Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU), Ishaq Usman Kasai, revealed this during an interview with journalists in Kaduna on Wednesday morning.

The bandits reportedly blocked the road and abducted the two APC women leaders, along with several others who were unfortunate enough to be caught in the ordeal. Among the kidnapped victims are Hajiya Lami Awarware, the Birnin Gwari APC woman leader, and her assistant, Hajiya Haulatu Aliyu.

According to reports, the abduction took place on Tuesday, and the victims were taken to a forest by their captors. As of now, the kidnappers have not contacted the families of the victims, nor have they made any ransom demands.

It should be noted that on Monday, BEPU made an appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and assist Birnin Gwari Emirate in addressing the security challenges plaguing the local government area.

As for the response from the Kaduna State Police, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached for comment. Phone calls placed to his known telephone number went unanswered, and he did not return the calls at the time of filing this report.
