Benue State Governor has handed over to Governor-elect Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia.
The handing over took place on Sunday at the banquet hall of the Government House.
Governor Ortom told Fr. Alia that the handover contains structure and summary of his 8 years administration as governor of the State, adding that the note contained details of sectoral, ministries and agencies key program implemented by his government.
He explained that the documents are in 3 volumes with briefs from ministries, Departments and Agency, MDAs containing policy document of the State development plan from 2016 on which his government was anchored.
According to him, highlights of total incomes that for 8 years from all sources is put at 734.9 billion naira as at 30th April 2023, adding that the expenditure is 735.6 while the total indebtedness is 187.7 billion naira.
“The debt profile seem high which is inclusive of pension but we took steps towards debt reduction in debt swap between State that brought it to 71.6 billion.
“The reduction came from inflow backlog of accumulated stamp debt 48 billion, maintaining that 42 billion bailout find and 20 infrastructure development fund is owed the State from the Federal Government,” Ortom said.
In his brief response, governor-elect Alia appreciated the Governor for his service to his fatherland.
