The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has unanimously re-elected Professor Emmanuel Osodeke as the National President for another two-year term. The re-election took place during the 22nd National Delegates Conference of ASUU held at the University of Jos, Plateau State. Alongside Professor Osodeke, Chris Piwuna was re-elected as the Vice President of the union. The conference, which took place from May 19 to 21, 2023, saw the re-election of several other national officers, ensuring continuity and stability within ASUU’s leadership.
Professor Emmanuel Osodeke’s re-election as the National President of ASUU reaffirms the union’s trust in his leadership. Chris Piwuna, an Associate Professor and Consultant Psychiatrist at the University of Jos, was also re-elected as the Vice President. The conference witnessed the re-election of other important national officers, including Prof. Siji Sowande as Treasurer, Prof. Ade Adejumo as Financial Secretary, Dr Austen Sado as Investment Secretary, Dr Adamu Babayo as Internal Auditor, and Dr Aisha Bawa as the new Welfare Secretary, replacing Dr Stella-Maris Okey.
