The Area Comptroller, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, revealed this during a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi. The confiscation of these goods is empowered by Section 63 (b) of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) cap C45 LFN 2004, which grants the authority to seize items like donkey meat and pangolin that are being transported within or outside the country. Additionally, the command also seized used vehicles and other items valued at N71.2 million.

The interception took place at the Bunza/Kamba border in Kebbi State, where the customs officers, in collaboration with other security personnel, intercepted a truck loaded with 414 sacks of donkey meat. This successful operation highlights the vigilance and effective coordination among the security agencies in curbing illegal activities related to the transportation of prohibited goods.

This achievement can be attributed to the command’s continuous engagement with stakeholders and the utilization of advice from community leaders, as well as retired and serving security personnel in the state.
