Police arrest 10 Eiye confraternity members after gun battle in Ogun

In a recent incident in Odogbolu, Ogun State, the Anti-Cult Unit of the Ogun State Police Command engaged in a gun duel with a notorious cult group known as the Eiye Confraternity. The group had converged in different locations in the town with the intention of unleashing terror on Shagamu. However, the police operatives were able to apprehend 10 members of the cult group after they attacked them with dangerous weapons during a raid on their hideout.

The suspects, who are currently in police custody, include Adekoya Adesina, Ayinde Olumide, Adebayo Jamiu, Ajayi Temitope, Taiwo Olatunji, Oladapo Ayeye, Johnson Adeyemi, Tunde Banjo, Gbenga Morufu, and Tunde Adenuga. The hoodlums had opened fire on the police operatives during the raid, seriously injuring the Second-In-Command of the unit, SUPOL Morakinyo Adejumo.

The police had received information that the group was planning to move to Shagamu to continue the supremacy battle going on amongst various cult groups in the area. The Eiye Confraternity group had been responsible for terrorizing Shagamu and its environs in recent times, prompting the police raid on their hideout.

The Ogun State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining members of the group. The command is determined to make the entire state uncondusive for cultists and other criminals and is ready to take the battle to their doorsteps.

During the raid, the police also recovered a large quantity of suspected Indian hemp stocked in a cement bag and eight live cartridges. The police are still investigating the matter, and the suspects will appear in court after the completion of their investigation
