Must read

The state of security in Nigeria has been a major concern for both citizens and the government. The recent discovery of the decomposing body of Kehinde Jibril, a nursing mother who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Ago-Oja town, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, is a saddening development.

After frantic efforts to locate and rescue her from her abductors, Kehinde’s corpse was found on Thursday along Ojoku Road in Ago-Oja axis of Ilorin. Kehinde was buried according to Islamic rites at Ago-Oja.

Sources close to the family of the deceased revealed that the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of N6m, and the latest part payment was allegedly delivered before the discovery of the nursing mother’s corpse. It was also reported that the kidnappers had initially targeted Kehinde’s husband, who is a cattle dealer, but abducted Kehinde when they discovered he was not at home.

Another victim, Oriyomi Babatunde, who was abducted alongside Kehinde on the same day in the town, was injured during the abduction and later died in the hospital.

The traditional chief of Ago-Oja, Baale Daudu Arolu, confirmed the discovery of the corpse and burial of Kehinde. This tragic incident highlights the growing insecurity and danger that individuals and communities face in Nigeria. The government and security agencies need to take concrete steps to curb these incidents and ensure the safety of citizens.
