Senator-elect and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday night to discuss his intent to become the President of the 10th Senate. During the meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Akpabio informed the President of his plans to work closely with the incoming Bola Tinubu Presidency to empower Nigerians, especially the youth.
Aside from informing President Buhari of his intention to lead the next Senate, Senator Akpabio also expressed his gratitude to the President for giving him the opportunity to serve as a Minister in his administration.
If elected as Senate President, Akpabio promised to bring a lot of reforms to the Senate, including introducing new ways and methods to do business and ensuring loyalty to the Constitution and Nigerians. He also promised to tackle issues affecting Nigerians through legislation to empower the youth and to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities.
Akpabio is confident in his ability to deliver on his promises, having already established himself as an “uncommon transformer” during his time as governor. He plans to work with the incoming President to empower the youth and to create policies that will benefit them.
During consultations with other lawmakers and the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Akpabio received positive and well-received feedback. He believes that with the help of the Almighty, both the National Assembly and the Executive will do a lot for the youth of this countr
