Nigerian U-17 side also known as the Golden Eaglets will be kick-starting their AFCON campaign today in a match with The Gambia.
The tournament began on Saturday with an opening match between the host Algeria and Somalia. The match ended 2:0 in favour of the host country.
The Golden Eaglets are among the favourites to win the tournament, but with the performance of the host on Saturday, their chances are clearly threatened.
The Eaglets are proudly five world cup winner and have win twice on the continent.
In Africa, apart from Nigeria that won the cup in 2001 and 2007, Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and The Gambia have also won it two times.
Today’s game against The Gambia will show whether Nigeria will go far in the tournament or not.
The crop of players in the Nigerian side will, however, boost their performance. Players like Precious Williams, Isaac Aondoakaa and Light Eke can boost the confidence of any side.
The kick-off time is 5pm.
