Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, the founder of Optimal Care Centre, has denied the charges of defilement and sexual penetration against his 16-year-old wife’s niece. In his defense before the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Offence Court in Ikeja, he accused his wife of framing him up to take over his house. The defendant is facing two counts of defilement and sexual penetration against a minor, with the offences alleged to have occurred between February 2020 and November 2021.
The prosecution claims that the offences violated sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The defendant has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
While testifying, Dr. Olaleye accused his wife of lying and stated that her allegations against him were incorrect. He claimed that the allegations surfaced after the couple had a serious disagreement, and that his wife had taken out a loan to buy a car and continued to have extra-marital affairs during the course of their rocky relationship.
The defendant stated that he left his house on November 27, 2021, after a fight with his wife over her insistence that her name should be on the documents of the house. He said that he returned the following day and learned from his children that his wife had severely beaten the girl, prompting him to check the CCTV cameras in the house.
Dr. Olaleye pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of defilement and sexual penetration against a minor, and denied all the allegations. Justice Ramon Oshodi adjourned the matter to May 22 for the continuation of the trial
