Ooni of Ife donates 100 hectares of land to Peace Corps for South-West Zonal training school

The Nigeria Peace Corps (NPC) is set to build a South-West Zonal Training School, thanks to a generous donation of 100 hectares of land by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. The monarch made the announcement during a visit by Dr. Mustapha Abubakar, the Corp’s Commandant General, at his palace in Ife, Osun State. The land is located along Ilesa road, Abayagani, Ile-Ife.

In his address, the Ooni of Ife stressed the importance of the NPC in today’s Nigeria, especially in light of the various insecurity threats. He emphasized the need for the corps to continue to demonstrate their commitment to making the society safe and peaceful for all citizens.

The monarch expressed his love for the corps and his desire to support their mission, which led to the donation of the land to enable them to position their training ground for the South-West Zone. The Ooni of Ife also promised to support the NPC in every way possible.

The training school is to be stationed in Ife, Osun State, due to the tireless efforts and contributions of Osun citizens in the service of humanity, especially to the growth of the corps. The passing-out parade of 700 officers across the southwest is expected to take place in the state.

The visit was an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Ooni of Ife and the NPC. The Comandant General Nigeria peace corps, Dr. Mustapha Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the Osun Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, for his interest in supporting the corps in achieving its set mandate.

During the visit, the Ooni of Ife was conferred with an award of excellence as the Grand Patron of the Nigerian Peace Corps for his contributions to the upliftment of Nigerian youths and other achievements.
