Olasunkanmi Olarewaju, also known as Abore, and Adeniyi Juwon, popularly known as Jboy, have been remanded by an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court in Kwara State for allegedly beating their friend, Abiodun Oyinloye, to death. The suspects were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide under Sections 97 and 221 of the penal code.
The duo were arrested after Olasunkanmi Olarewaju called the police to report that he and Adeniyi Juwon had killed Abiodun Oyinloye for allegedly stealing N65,000.00k from him. Upon their arrest, a discreet investigation was conducted at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ilorin, which revealed that Olasunkanmi Olarewaju and Adeniyi Juwon attacked Abiodun Oyinloye for stealing the proceeds of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, which they were selling.
Further investigation revealed that Olasunkanmi Olarewaju and Adeniyi Juwon killed Abiodun Oyinloye and concealed his body in a room within Olasunkanmi Olarewaju’s compound. Both suspects reportedly confessed to conspiring together to beat Abiodun Oyinloye to death.
The police prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, urged the court to remand the suspects, and Magistrate M. O. Abayomi ordered their remand pending the next hearing, which is scheduled for May 11, 2023.
