Labour Party invasion: NLC National President Ajaero vows to exterminate usurpers

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership launched an offensive against alleged “rodents” attempting to take over the Labour Party (LP) national headquarters. The solidarity visit aimed to support the embattled national chairman of the party, Barrister Julius Abure, amid a leadership crisis over two court orders on the position of the national chairman of the party. The NLC had earlier maintained that Barrister Julius Abure remained the chairman of the party, which the congress said it formed to represent the ideological persuasions of Nigerian workers.

Comrade Joseph Ajaero, the national president of the NLC, led the team that visited the LP headquarters in Abuja. He stated that the LP was founded by the labour centres and would not be abandoned to any illegal leadership. Comrade Ajaero declared that anyone illegally declaring themselves as chairman, secretary, or anything would be tackled by workers anywhere in the country. He urged Nigerian workers to arrest such people and bring them to the labour centre. Comrade Ajaero declared that the LP was their party, and no one could come from the blues and declare themselves as the chairman or secretary of their party without their consent.

Comrade Ajaero stated that the LP was a child of circumstances, formed when they lost confidence in the existing political parties. He said the LP would be the ideal political party to represent their ideological persuasions. He vowed that anyone attempting to sabotage or derail their ideological move would be resisted with the last drop of their blood. The LP refused to be distracted and would continue to pursue the court case until the mandate of the party is recovered.
