The British government has apologized to Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, over his detention and harassment at Heathrow Airport, London.
Recall that the former Anambra State Governor was detained by officials at the airport over an alleged identity theft.
The apology came after an immigration official admitted to have wrongly handed Obi a detention note in a search of a man who impersonated him to commit forgery and identity theft.
British authorities said the uncomplimentary treatment he received was “completely unacceptable”
In the apology, the government said, “Frankly, the Immigration Official’s action has been appalling – and we are sorry,” a report by The Nigerian Voice quotes British immigration authorities as saying in a personal apology to Obi.
