Gov Umahi assures no force can stop Tinubu from being sworn-in as President on May 29

In a recent declaration, the Ebonyi State governor, Chief David Umahi, has assured Nigerians that no force or power can prevent the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, from being sworn-in as President on May 29, 2023. He made this statement at the Governor’s Office, New Government House, Abakaliki when the speaker of the state House of Assembly and governor-elect, Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, presented his certificate of return to the outgoing governor.

Governor Umahi expressed concern over what he described as extreme politics in the country, insisting that it must be deemphasized to enable the incoming administration to focus on building a new and better Nigeria. He emphasized that the Nigerian constitution is superior to any protocol or rule projected by certain individuals. He said that his vying for the position of Senate President of the 10th Assembly is not how far but his ability and sacrifices in nation building.

The Governor also described as a joke the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state that they won the election. He noted that the triumph of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state was anchored on hard work, commitment, and the people’s wishes and aspirations. He further decried the high level of bitter politics played in the state and expressed sadness that people who did not make any impact during the election would drag the clear winners to the tribunal, appeal court, and other courts simply to distract the people and create false impressions.

Governor Umahi dedicated the victory of APC’s governorship candidate to God and emphasized that no man can stop Tinubu from being president because the time God would have stopped him, God allowed him. He also described as an effort in futility the suit filed by the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, challenging the victory of Nwifuru, adding that a lot of PDP governors in the past had earlier tried such and ended up losing their state to opposition parties.

Umahi noted that it is despicable for anyone from Ebonyi South senatorial zone to succeed him and that a lot of PDP governors in the past had tried and failed to succeed themselves. He added that it is crazy and unacceptable to any normal human being for Ebonyi South to become greedy and want to take another turn. He concluded that extreme politics must be deemphasized in Nigeria so that the country can begin to build a better Nigeria.
