NDLEA arrests woman with ₦4m worth of methamphetamine, others in state

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Rivers State have arrested a woman, Angela Sunday, in possession of 800 grammes of Methamphetamine with a street value of over ₦4 million.

The agency’s Public Affairs Officer, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, revealed that Sunday was arrested during a raid at her hide-out in Odagwa-Etche community in Etche local government area of the state. In addition to the Methamphetamine, 250 grammes of Cannabis Sativa and 59 grammes of Heroin were found in her possession at the time of the arrest.

Another suspected female drug dealer, Juliet Eze, was also arrested in the same community with 47 grammes of Cannabis Sativa, 7 grammes of Methamphetamine, 3.5 grammes of Cocaine, and 3 grammes of Heroin, respectively.

In the past month, the NDLEA arrested 25 other suspected drug peddlers during raids in different parts of the state. The agency’s Directorate of General Investigation (DOGI) provided credible intelligence to operatives, who arrested one Monday Lucky ‘Male’ with 2.5 grammes of Methamphetamine and 1 gramme of Cannabis Sativa during a raid operation at Omoku, at about 9am on Friday 7th April, 2023. While at about 10:30 am of Friday 7th April, 2023, NDLEA operatives at Okrika Area Command of the State arrested one Johnson Baadee ‘Male’ with 4.3 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa at Ogale – Eleme.

The agency also secured the conviction of 17 drug defendants at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, who are serving their various jail terms at the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre.

Drug trafficking and consumption are significant problems that pose a threat to public health and safety. The NDLEA remains committed to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in the country.
