Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has declared that he will continue to go to Aso Rock in Abuja.
Makinde who spoke on Friday explained that his going to Aso Rock, the seat of federal power is in the interest of the people of the state.
Makinde made this disclosure while flagging -off the dualization of Akobo Ojuirin/Odogbo Barracks to Olorunda Abaa junction by N O Idowu Comprehensive College, Ibadan.
Some of the personalities at the event included the deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Chief of Staff, Hon Segun Ogunwuyi, former first lady, Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, former Speaker, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu.
Others are; Olugbon Of Ile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye and Chairman, Lagelu Local Government, Alhaji Kazeem Gbadamosi.
Our correspondent gathered that Makinde and four former governors on the platform of PDP among whom are Samuel Ortom and Nyesom Wike were in Aso Rock on Thursday.
Makinde has however declared that he will continue to go to Aso Rock so as to seek refund of money spent on federal roads from the President.
He said that he has a genuine reason for going to Aso Rock even though some people are criticising him for doing that.
Makinde while speaking further, announced that he has named one of the roads in the state after former governor of Rivers state, Wike.
He declared that the road between Idi Ape in Ibadan North East local government area up to Olorunda Aba in Lagelu local government area be known as Nyesom Wike Road.
He added that he will not hesitate to pay compensation to owners of property affected by the road construction.
He urged the people to cooperate with the contractor in order to complete the road on time.
Makinde said, “I will continue to go to Aso Rock to push for the refund of the money we spent on the roads. The Chairman of Lagelu, if you continue to come to us, I will continue to go to Aso Rock for refund.
“Let me announce that Idi Ape to Olorunda Aba be named as Governor Nyesom Wike Road. That road that stretch from Idi Ape to Olorunda Aba.
“The people of Olorunda Aba, you have endured but relief is here.
“Any property that will go, we will promptly pay the compensation. The road will be completed within 12 months”.
