28 LP state chairmen declare allegiance to Abure, take bsck secretariat amid crisis

In the midst of the recent crisis that rocked the Labour Party’s national headquarters, 28 State Chairmen of the party have taken over the national secretariat in Utako, Abuja. They have declared their allegiance to the national chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, following allegations that their party was attacked by thugs working for the APC with the help of the police.

According to reports, the chairmen, led by their spokesperson, High Chief Kehinde Rotimi, forcefully reclaimed the secretariat, which had been destroyed and its documents carted away. They claim that the attackers committed all sorts of atrocities that are not in tandem with the rule of law.

The Labour Party Chairman for Enugu State, Barr Cashmir Uchenna Agbo, has condemned the actions of those who took over the secretariat, stating that the party is a party of rule of law. He maintained that the party’s position and the mechanism for resolving crises are very clear in the constitution.

Despite the controversy surrounding the crisis, the chairmen have affirmed their support for Barrister Abure and have called on all political parties to leave them alone. They have urged the security agencies not to turn into political party members but to do what is right according to the rule of law.

The crisis has sparked concerns among Nigerians, who have given the Labour Party their mandate. However, the party has emphasized that they believe in the rule of law and have already begun the legal process to address the situation.

The crisis within the Labour Party has highlighted the need for political parties in Nigeria to uphold the rule of law and seek peaceful means of resolving conflicts. The actions of the 28 State Chairmen, while controversial, show the importance of standing by one’s convictions and upholding democratic principles
