Enugu APC suspends Nnamani, Chime, Onyeama, others for anti-party activities

Must read

The Enugu chapter of the All Progressive Congress has suspended former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former Governor Sullivan Chime, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, along with other party members, for their anti-party activities.

The state executive committee of APC stated that after the 2023 General Election, the party commenced a post-election review to document the activities of the election. The review identified individuals who worked against the party, and the committee believed it was imperative to tackle the matter head-on, leading to the suspension of the party stalwarts.

The resolution, signed by the state secretary of the party, Hon. Robert Ngwu, disclosed that the suspended party chieftains, including Nnamani, were involved in anti-party activities and campaigned openly against the Governorship and other APC candidates on November 12, 2022. The extended State Executive committee, including local government chairmen and LGA secretaries of the Party, ratified the recommendation of the Disciplinary Committee, and moved for the immediate suspension of Nnamani.

Allegations were leveled against Chime, Onyeama, and Eze, including actions and statements that were in direct contravention of the party’s constitution. After conducting a thorough investigation into the allegations of anti-party activities leveled against Okechukwu, the extended State Executive committee, including local government chairmen and LGA secretaries of the Party, ratified the recommendation of the Disciplinary Committee, and moved for his immediate expulsion.

The Enugu APC’s decision to suspend these party stalwarts underscores the importance of remaining loyal to the party’s principles and constitution. It sends a strong message to other party members that anti-party activities will not be tolerated, especially as the 2023 General Election approaches. The Enugu APC has demonstrated that it is committed to ensuring discipline and adherence to party principles, and this should serve as a warning to other members who may be considering engaging in anti-party activities
