Osun offers free train ride for easter celebrations

As part of the Easter celebration, the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has given approval for a free train ride to indigenes who reside in Lagos and other South West states willing to celebrate the festival with their families in the state. This gesture was made known in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

The free train service, named Imole, will commence its journey from the Iddo Terminus in Lagos by 10am today, with designated stop-overs at train stations in Ogun and Oyo states to pick passengers. The train is expected to arrive at the Nelson Mandela Park Train Station in Osogbo at 6pm.

The Governor affirmed that the Imole free train service was initiated to provide relief to the citizens of the state travelling home to celebrate the Easter holiday with their loved ones. He further stated that his administration would continue to offer free train services for indigenes during festive periods to ease the burden of transportation costs on the people.

In addition, the governor urged the citizens of the state residing in Lagos and other South West states to take advantage of the opportunity to visit their loved ones and celebrate the Easter festivities in the state.

The return trip from Osogbo to Lagos is scheduled for Monday, April 10, 2023, at 10am. The statement enjoined citizens to comply with the rules and regulations of the train service to ensure a smooth and safe trip.

With the free train service in place, indigenes of Osun State living outside the state can travel with ease to celebrate the Easter holiday with their families and loved ones. It is a remarkable move by the state government to provide succor to its citizens during festive periods.
