Nigeria’s green house energy policy to drive industrialisation – Mamora

In a recent visit by the participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 45 2023 National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Nigeria’s Minister of Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Dr. Adeleke Mamora stated that the country’s Green House energy policy will help to mitigate the impact of climate change, drive industrialization and provide security for sustainable development. Mamora emphasized that nations around the world are leveraging the new energy order of Greenhouse energy to empower their industrial activities and reduce the menace of climate change.

The minister further explained that climate change is a universal issue affecting every country, and the deployment of policy measures to mitigate its effects is critical for meaningful achievement in industrialization, climate change and security. He stressed the need for sincere commitment to the application of STI intervention programmes in the country.

As the national custodian of all innovation matters in Nigeria, the Ministry of STI is poised to transform the developmental paradigm of the country to a knowledge-driven industrial hub in Africa and reference point in the world. The Ministry has made commendable and sustainable contributions to indigenous industrial development towards climate adaptation and mitigation.

Also speaking during the visit, the Minister of State for STI, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, stated that the interest of the participants of the Senior Executive Course 45 2023 to interact with the Management of the Ministry will enable them to inform the public on the importance of STI in industrialization and climate change mitigation. The report of the participants of the course will improve the knowledge inputs and outputs of various Parastatals, Departments, and Agencies of government and public towards green energy revolution and industrialization which will ensure speedy socio-economic development of Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Monilola Udoh, also affirmed that the Ministry is working assiduously to ensure delivery on the mandates of its seventeen agencies, especially in the areas of industrialization, climate change mitigation and energy security in Nigeria and the world in general.

In conclusion, Nigeria’s Green House energy policy is a vital catalyst for sustainable development, industrialization, and climate change mitigation. With the commitment of the Ministry of STI and other stakeholders, Nigeria is well on its way to becoming a knowledge-driven industrial hub in Africa and a reference point in the world.
