Keyamo says Obi’s dream to be Nigeria’s president is over

Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, has stated that Peter Obi’s leaked telephone conversation with Bishop Oyedepo has ended the Labour Party (LP) candidate’s dream of becoming Nigeria’s president in the future. He added that God had exposed Obi through the leaked conversation, according to his tweet.

Keyamo accused the “men of God” of allowing themselves to be used by an unscrupulous politician to inflame religious passions in Nigeria. He expressed his disappointment and described their actions as deceitful, shameful, and disgusting.

The spokesperson further stated that the “men of God” and church-goers should stop being teleguided by self-serving individuals. He emphasized that the pulpit should not be used for politics.

Keyamo also criticized Obi for declaring an election a religious war in a multi-religious and multi-ethnic country like Nigeria. According to him, Obi’s dream of being Nigeria’s president has died a natural death due to his actions.

The Labour Party had earlier claimed that the leaked audio of the conversation between Peter Obi and Bishop Oyedepo was fake and meant to cause religious tension. In response, Keyamo confirmed the authenticity of the audio, and accused the LP candidate of promoting religious tension through his actions.

The APC spokesperson’s comments have generated mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some supporting his stance and others criticizing it. Despite the controversies surrounding the leaked audio, the country is gearing up for the 2023 general elections, with various political parties vying for power.
