Fake audio to stir religious tension won’t save you, LP warns APC

The Labour Party (LP) has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the dissemination of a fake audio recording featuring their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church is intended to provoke religious tension. The LP believes this ploy is a futile attempt by the APC to cling to power, which it acquired via undemocratic means over a month ago.

The head of Obi-Datti Media, Diran Onifade, issued a statement affirming that the APC’s continuous subterfuge must cease. The LP is making efforts to reclaim its mandate through constitutional means, whereas the APC is resorting to dubious tactics to maintain power.

The LP has pointed out the APC’s prior scandals, such as the debacle in Port Harcourt and the Ibom Air airplane incident, both of which they orchestrated. Now, they have progressed to the spread of a deep fake audio file aimed at creating religious tension in Nigeria.

The LP argues that these shenanigans are purely for the sake of mischief and are intended to discredit Peter Obi, but this ploy has failed. Peter Obi has long been on record as the only presidential candidate who has encouraged Nigerians to vote based on merit, rather than religion or tribe.

The LP urges Nigerians to remain focused on the goal of regaining the mandate that was freely given to Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed through legitimate means. This task is more critical than anticipating that the individuals who participated in elections with falsified credentials and fake bishops will stop producing counterfeit materials.
