Wike rejects embattled ex-PDP national chairman, Ayu, citing weak leadership

Must read

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has called for the removal of the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu. Speaking at the commissioning of Rumuigbo internal roads in Obio-Akpor local government area of the state, Wike stated that Ayu’s leadership style lacked the kind of strength needed to make PDP a strong political force to be reckoned with.

The governor cited Ayu’s alleged focus on personal gain, such as building a private university in Benue State with funds realized from the party’s congresses, as proof of his unproductive leadership style.

Wike emphasized the need for a strong leadership that will move PDP forward and help it achieve its goals. He vowed to fight for Ayu’s removal, stating that it was necessary if the party wants to be strengthened. The governor assured the people of Rivers State that he served them credibly and fulfilled his promise to complete and inaugurate the Rumuigbo internal roads.

Inaugurating the project, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, commended Wike for his commitment to providing better living conditions for Rivers people. Mohammed acknowledged Wike’s political sagacity, which ensured PDP in the state won the governorship, all State Assembly, and three senatorial seats, as well as delivering votes that contributed to his preferred southern president.

Wike assured that he is not afraid of any visit from the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) when he leaves office, stating that there is nothing to hide and the numerous projects are evidence of how resources of the State have been used. He promised to inaugurate more projects until the midnight of 28th May 2023 without abandoning any ongoing project
