Fire razes balogun market in Lagos, destroying multi-billion naira goods

On Tuesday morning, a devastating fire broke out at the Balogun Market in Lagos, resulting in the destruction of goods and properties worth billions of naira. According to reports, the fire, which started early in the morning, affected a five-story building in the market.

Despite the efforts of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the fire reportedly razed down two floors completely, with the source claiming that it was still raging. However, the Lagos State government has issued a statement affirming that the firefighters were already combating the raging fire.

In a tweet, the senior special assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on new media, Jubril A. Gawat, confirmed that the fire was under control, and that mitigation efforts were underway to limit its spread.

As the situation unfolds, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and two divisions of the Lagos Fire Service have been deployed to the scene to put out the fire. Meanwhile, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Adeseye Margaret, has assured the public that the fire has been brought under control.
