FAAN slams life ban on passenger over unruly behavior at Abuja Airport

Must read

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has barred a Benin-bound passenger from using the Abuja airport for any flight services. The action was taken because the passenger, Oghenemini Oyibo Great, forcefully opened and damaged the boarding gate door lock after his flight to Benin on Air Peace was delayed.

The suspect was arrested by a joint team of security personnel and brought to the Crime Intelligence and Investigation Unit (CIIU) office of the Aviation Security. The incident took place at about 20:10hrs on 24th March, 2023. FAAN’s acting general manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, confirmed that no major injury was sustained by the passengers and staff.

After he was interrogated and a statement was taken from him, he was transferred to the Airport Police command. However, FAAN has declared him persona non-grata and he will no longer be allowed to fly out or into Abuja airport.

This incident highlights the importance of maintaining proper behavior while travelling. Passengers who cause disturbances and damage property may face severe consequences, including life bans. Airlines and airport authorities have strict rules in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.

FAAN has made it clear that unruly behavior will not be tolerated at any Nigerian airport. This case serves as a warning to all passengers to adhere to the rules and regulations in place when travelling. Any form of misconduct will be met with the full force of the law.
