Abia Guber: Ex-Nigerian Minister, Ogah applauds INEC declaration of Alex Otti as Governor-elect

Dr Uche Ogah, a former Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development, has lauded the declaration of the Labour Party flagbearer at the just-concluded 2023 gubernatorial election in Abia state, Alex Chioma Otti, as the new Governor-elect of the state by the independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission had on Saturday 18th March, 2023, conducted a governorship election at designated polling centres across 184 electoral wards of the 17 local government council areas in Abia State.

The commission however temporarily suspended the collation of the results of the Governorship elections held in Abia and Enugu states after the concluded voting execrise last Saturday.

Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee in an earlier statement, had explained the decision was reached to suspend the collation of election results in some parts of the two states in order to carry out a review of the collation processes in both states.

On Wednesday, the labour party flagbearer, Alex Otti,was declared as winner of the governorship election in Abia state by the Independent National Electoral Commission on resumption and conclusion of collation of results of the state governorship seat election from the last local government area, obingwa.

AFRIPOST reports that Otti polled a total of 175, 467 votes cast to beat his closest rival and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahiwe, who scored 88,529 votes to come second position at the concluded poll on Wednesday.

This was declared by the INEC Returning officer for Abia state, Professor Nnenna Oti, on Wednesday.

Earlier, Ogah in a statement, while  appauding the outcome of conducted Abia 2023 governorship electionon Wednesday, congratulated Otti on emerging victorious at the just concluded state  election by the nation’s electoral umpire.

The ex-minister said with Otti’s emergence as the new Governor-elect of Abia state, people of the state shall begin to seen and witness true change they had yearned for, as soon as the latter assume duties, applauding Abia electorates for displaying their dodgedness and utter resoluteness to ensure their collective will in the recently-concluded election reigned supreme.

Ogah partly stated: “i’m especially glad of your victory as we both share a deep sense of commitment and duty to our home state, Abia and we both, with backgrounds in the private sector have gained the required experience needed to change the fortunes of Abia state.

“Again, my now constant prayer to God for you, dear Dr. Otti is for sustained clarity of purpose, vision and unassailable will in the discharge of the onerous demands of your new office as the Executive Governor of Abia State, especially, at this time when you will take charge in undoing the evils perpetuated by past administration in the state. Congratulations, my dear brother.”
