The Abia State House of Assembly member-elect for umuahia central constituency seat, Barrister Chinasa Anthony-Abiola, has expressed profound appreciation to the people of umuahia central and teeming supporters for their uncommon supports that saw his victory at the just concluded house of assembly election held in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
AFRIPOST recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Saturday, 18th March, 2023, conducted state election in all electoral wards of the seventeen local government areas of Abia State.
Chinasa Anthony, the state house of assembly Candidate of the Labour Party was announced winner of the concluded election held in umuahia central state constituency last Saturday by the electoral commission, after polling a total of 11, 222 votes to defeat Pastor Ugochukwu Uchegbu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 2, 656 votes, while Kenneth Maduakolam Adighibe of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 1, 543 votes.
According to the returning officer, Engr. Chiadine Tochukwu: “Anthony Chinasa of the Labour Party (LP) having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner of the Umuahia Central state constituency seat election.”
However, the Abia assembly member-elect fot umuahia central constituency, Hon Chinasa Anthony -Abiola, in a statement issued on monday in Umuahia, while expressing his gratitude to constituents on his well-deserved victory during the concluded election, said he is dedicating the victory to God and people of the area who nev allowed their collective votes to be not truncated by anti-democratic forces, but rather, insisted in entrusting their mandate to him.
He reiterated his earlier promises to justify the mandate bestowed on him through presentation of peoples-oriented and quality bills, motions, and development-oriented laws, towards improving the economic potentials of umuahia central constituency, and engender infrastructural growths of the area.
The LP member-elect of Abia House of Assembly also maintained that he will facilitate and attract genuine empowerment and development schemes programmes for youths, men and women in urban areas that formed umuahia central state constituency when inaugurated as a member of the 8th leadership of Abia house of assembly in June this year.
Anthony-Abiola further thanked the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Abia state, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, for his encouragement, and party members in entrusting him the state house of assembly seat ticket during the concluded 2022 primary election conducted by the leadership of the labour party in Abia State.
While still awaiting outcome of the review of the results of the Governorship election held by INEC in Obingwa local government area of Abia state following the incidence of criminal siege of INEC electoral officers, and the alleged attempt burn down LG office of the electoral commission by suspected political thugs, the Abia party chieftain urged people of the state to remain law-abided, while peacefully protesting on the alleged move by enemies of democracy to subvert their collective will which they demonstrated during the 18th March, 2023 governorship election in Abia state.
His words: “I must thank them for coming out enmasse to cast their votes for him, which ensured and propelled by unaimous election as member-elect for umuahia central constituency in Abia state house of assembly.”
Anthony-Abiola confided that Otti will be declared the Abia Governor-elect in midst of the failed attempt by ruling party and her government in the state to smuggle in, fake, already-written and prepared election results to favour their preferred candidate, against collective will of Abia electorates who voted for Labour party and Alex Otti during the general elections held in all parts of the state last Saturday by INEC.
