The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Dauda Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the governor-elect of Zamfara State.
Lawal who polled a total of 377,726 votes defeated the incumbent Governor, Bello Matawalle of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 311,976 in a keenly contested contest.
The declaration came in the early hours of Tuesday at the collation centre in Gusau, the state capital.
